Lily Allen confirms she is bowing out from music

Australian newspaper, The Herald Sun, has reported that Brit pop princess Lily Allen confirmed last night at her Festival Hall sold-out show (Melbourne) that she is taking an indefinite sabbatical.

“This is it for a while so thanks for all your support over the years,” Allen told the crowd.

Lily’s accelerated success and global fame has been so intense she’s burnt out after just two albums. Its a tragic a loss to the pop music world. In an age full of bland, straight off the conveyer belt pop clones, Allen is outspoken where it matters, writes her own material and has genuine charisma. Her fame is actually justifiable.

Her connection with people through her songs is undeniable. Last night she tackled prescription drug abuse (‘Everyone’s At It’) to homophobia (‘F**k You’), to impotence (‘Not Fair’) and fledgling romance (‘Who’d Have Known’). Allen has introduced interesting lyrics to pop music again.

Displaying her broad taste in music, Allen also covered the Kooks’ ‘Naive’, the SOS Band’s ‘Just Be Good To Me’ and Britney Spears‘ ‘Womanizer’, the latter apparently performed in a smoking hot skin tight leopard print dress. God she’s hot.

Lily Allen – a pop star with a personality, is leaving behind a brief but impressive musical career. These are some very sad times.
